Thoughts from the
Youth Department

In the depths of being overwhelmed and anxious about preparing for my first year of teaching, I opened my Bible and ran to Psalms looking for comfort and wisdom. Then it happened. I stumbled upon this very verse.

"You armed me with the strength for battle" -Psalm 18:39

The Lord prepares each of us to face the battles that are present in our lives. He clothes us in His armor of love, hope, peace, righteousness, dignity, integrity, stamina, and so much more. Wow! And that is not even all, He promises to be victorious!!! So, when we seek the Lord in our weakness, desperate-state of mind, and darkness we are no longer trying to accomplish a victory on our own but are letting God's power transform the odds. It does not matter what we are facing, whether it is a frustrating relationship at work or facing a phobia that has kept us captive or fighting an illness. God is with us in the little battles and the great obstacles, so who can be against us? I am not sure what battles you are facing and how they are working in your life to bring you closer to God, but I know that together we can take heart and know that God is strong enough to fight for us when we are too weak to fight. Let's encourage each other to persevere and fight the fight to show that faith in the Lord and His power is real. Here are some things to contemplate:

1) What battles are currently taking your time and energy?

2) How have you had success in handling the situations in the past?

3) What can you do to give the control to God?

4) Have you prayed with someone about it? (This might help you to have some peace and hope restored.)
